About Common Porcine Insect Bites, Symptoms & Treatment:
With an active life outdoors, in is almost inevitable that your pot belly pig will get bitten by an insect over the course of its life.
Of all the potential culprits, Pot belly pigs are most likely to be bothered by horseflies and mosquitoes. These bothersome insects are attracted to moist warm areas, so a pig’s back and ears are viewed as a perfect home, or landing spot.
If you notice a mosquito bite or group of insect bites, apply Aardora to manage your pig’s itch and redness, and to moisturize bitten areas. Aardora also contains cedar wood oil, a natural insect repellent, to help drive flies and mosquitoes from your pig’s skin. And, Aardora’s antibacterial properties will help to protect tender infection-prone skin throughout the healing process.
Due to the discomfort and itch associated with flea bites, and your pig’s likely interest in biting at the area, one of the most important treatment goals is to deter scratching by covering the area or insisting that your pig wear a plastic cone during the healing process. Excessive scratching or biting will leave the skin raw, moist and highly prone to infection.
If your pig happens to bite at their skin and the area becomes infected, apply (spray or rub) Aardora onto the area to help guard against the growth of bacteria, and protect against healing complications. Additionally, treat your pig with an extra dose of TLC (tender loving care) to help him or her heal more comfortably. Surround your animal with its favorite bedding, food, etc.
